BOHEMIAN is soprano Lee Hae-won's new musical journey, born from a desire to "sing freely." Spanning classical art songs, folk songs, and opera arias, the album captures themes of life, love, and longing through her distinctively clear and sincere voice. Blending live recital recordings with studio sessions, it stands as her most honest and unrestrained musical portrait to date.

Following her Korean art song album Blooming Flower, this release brings together pieces she has long cherished — songs that cross eras and borders under the unifying theme of freedom. The album showcases a wide musical spectrum: intimate works by female composers Clara Schumann and Amy Beach; the technically brilliant The Gypsy and the Bird by Julius Benedict; deeply lyrical art songs by Dvořák and Fauré; and beloved folk songs such as Danny Boy and Shenandoah. Through this breadth, Lee Hae-won presents a new musical identity that extends beyond the Korean art song tradition.

The album uniquely combines live recordings from her recital at the IBK Corporate Bank Chamber Hall at the Seoul Arts Center with studio recordings, preserving both the vivid energy of the stage and the nuanced intimacy of the studio. The 15-track album features longtime collaborator, pianist Moon Jae-won, whose restrained sensitivity and thoughtful interpretation beautifully complement Lee Hae-won's crystalline voice.

Lee Hae-won is a graduate of Seoul National University College of Music and the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin. She has performed with leading ensembles including the National Opera of Korea, the National Chorus of Korea, and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and has appeared at international stages such as the Rossini Opera Festival in Italy. Known for her warm and authentic interpretations of Korean art songs, she has been affectionately called "the IU of Korean art song." In June 2025, she moved audiences at the 70th Memorial Day ceremony at Seoul National Cemetery, performing Bogo Sipeun Eolgul (A Face I Miss).

Through this album, I wanted to convey that the emotions of love, longing, comfort, and hope — expressed across different languages — are ultimately connected as one.
